Is it permissible 2 pray salaat if I have used perfume or body lotion containing alcohol.?

Assalaamu alaikum,

Inshaa-Allaah you are okay. It is important to differentiate between ';khamr'; (intoxicant) and ';alcohol';. Because there are three different types of alcohol and not all of them fall in the category of ';khamr';.

Unfortunately, due to issues of translation, ';alcohol'; is commonly translated to arabic as ';khamr'; and as a result there are misunderstandings about what is allowed and forbidden with regards to products containing ';alcohol';.

See the excerpted information below. I believe that the alcohol contained in perfumes is of Category #1. I also included a link that gives more detail.

(From a student of knowledge in Makkah)

wa 'alaykumus-salaamu wa rahmatullaahi wa barakaatuh

It is important to differentiate between ';khamr'; and ';alcohol';.

The substance called ';alcohol'; is of three types:

1) That which is deadly, if you consume it you will die or become seriously ill. This is considered ';summ'; (poison) and it is permissible to buy, sell, transport, or use it, but not consume it. (You can use it in mouthwash, perfume, bug spray, etc, but not in foods or drinks)

2) That which intoxicates when consumed, a little of it or a lot, then it considered khamr (intoxicant), and it is not permissible to buy, sell, transport, use, or consume. The fataawaa mentioned above all refer to this category: khamr.

3) That which does not intoxicate no matter how much of it is consumed, then it is not a khamr, and it is halaal, like the small amounts of alcohol found in many foods and drinks that we eat every day. This type is permissible to buy, sell, transport, use, and consume.

So if the type of alcohol used in your medicine is type #3, then you may use it. If it is #1 or #2, then no.

And Allaah knows best.

[I learned this point from Shaykh Muhammad Baazmool, who relays it from al-'Allaamah Al-Albaanee, may Allaah have Mercy on them both.]

Yes, the alcohol which is mentioned in the Quran, is the drink, which when u drink u will be intoxicated. The alcohol which they use in perfumes are chemical substances, which give fragrance, like esters, ethyl alcohol etc, In fact chemical alcohol are substances that used in products, like soaps, and so on.. The Quran, states that a person should not pray only if he is, intoxicated( when he had drunk, wine, beer or any other stuff like that), and not when he is wearing, perfumes that use chemical alcohols. Is it permissible 2 pray salaat if I have used perfume or body lotion containing alcohol.?
if the alcohol is synthetic thn ok

synthetic alcohol means that which DOES NOT come from grapes

Other type of alcohol means tht comes from grapes

but no one tells if its synthetic or not so use only itr (itar)

If the alcohol is haram in the perfume or body lotion u must remove it

as salam alaikum

i no my answer is dif to everyone else but as far as i was aware u were not supposed to be using perfume anyway as part of your hijab and especially not ones with alchohol. altho i have heard that this is something tht many ppl disagree on if u can or cant. if u are unsure it is probably best to not. Isnt is better to make sure u are pleasing allah then to hope tht u are not displeasing him???

There are many, many differnt and very nice kinds of perfumes which do not contain alcohol ...

So, there is no need for buying a kind that contains it ...

Allah Sub7anah tells us that it's forbidden (and did not except its addition to anything else - than drinking it ) ...

Dumty be7efd Allah ...
Sure, it doesn't make any difference at all. The only thing you have to look out for is praying (or even going out) in public wearing enough perfume that a man passing close to you could smell it. That doesn't affect your salat, of course, but it is a sin.
Yes because it is onlt externally used. But still everything has a limit so that it doesnt become a trouble for others who stands next to us.
First, believe in the world—that there is meaning behind everything.
Arent you allowed to pray if youre wearing perfume?

Thats a very strict religion you's have got yourselves
Consumption/drinking of Alcohol is forbidden,!
You should not use anything containing alcohol. Its HARAM
Does not matter :)
